“Made in Sunderland” Design Competition

Dust off your brushes, sharpen your pencils and let your creative juices flow, it’s time to celebrate anything and everything “Made in Sunderland”.

Following the success of last year’s “Your Alice in Sunderland” design competition, this year MAC Sunderland are launching a competition on the theme of “Made in Sunderland”.

Whether you’re a painter, a writer, a singer or a dancer, a poet, a photographer, a knitter or a sculptor, you’re being asked to submit a piece of new art “Made in Sunderland”, celebrating the past, present and future of Sunderland’s industries. Perhaps you’ll make something reflecting the city’s shipbuilding or coalmining heritage, or maybe your art will be inspired by the city’s cars and software. Whatever you choose, submit your entries by the closing date of June 6, 2016 and prizes will be awarded in three categories: under 11, 11-17, and 18 and over.

The winners of the two under 18s categories will receive £100 in art supplies, whilst the four winning entries chosen from the over 18s will each receive a £250 cash prize. The best entries will also be featured in an exhibition to take place in the city in July this year.

To enter, please send a photograph or electronic version of your entry to competition@macsunderland.co.uk before the closing date of June 6, 2016. Entries must also include your full name, age and contact email address. Successful entrants will be contacted in due course with details of the final exhibition
